Bass Coast Shire Council has appointed Aligned Leisure to manage its new Leisure Contract for the Council’s leisure facilities.
From 1 July 2025, Aligned Leisure will commence management of Bass Coast Aquatic & Leisure Centre, Phillip Island Leisure Centre and the seasonal Cowes Outdoor Pool.
Aligned Leisure will work with Bass Coast Shire Council and YMCA Victoria to ensure the transition has minimal impact on members, customers, and the community.
Aligned Leisure is a highly regarded Melbourne-based specialised provider with extensive facility management experience in other local government areas. They have already commenced their transition plan, with an immediate focus on the current employees.
Aligned Leisure is working with Bass Coast Shire Council and YMCA Victoria to ensure the transition has minimal impact on members, customers, and the community.
All customer information, including contacts, membership, and direct debit information, will be securely transferred to Aligned Leisure.

There may be minor interruptions for fitness members as Aligned Leisure will install all-new gym equipment at the Bass Coast Aquatic & Leisure Centre and Phillip Island Leisure Centre. All other services will operate as normal. Aligned Leisure will provide updates leading to 1 July to all members to advise of any potential interruptions throughout the handover period.
The group fitness timetable will remain largely unchanged. YMCA Victoria branded classes will continue to run under a different name.
Yes. Aligned Leisure will contact all venue hirers and provide new booking forms in the coming weeks. Any hirer wanting to establish an account and pay by invoice must also complete a credit application.
The operating hours will remain the same.
Each year, the Bass Coast Shire Council reviews the fees and charges for its leisure facilities as part of the annual Council budget process. Any changes to pricing as a result of the budget process will be shared with customers at least one month before any increase.
This is being discussed as part of the transition. While a decision is yet to be made, we are committed to making the transition as seamless as possible for members.
No. The fortnightly debit process will remain the same; only the name on the transaction on your Bank or Credit Card statement will be different from 1 July 2025.
Yes. Aligned Leisure partners with the Royal Life Saving Society of Australia to deliver nationally accredited lessons through the Swim and Survive Program.
Information on this program is available via the Swim and Survive website. Aligned Leisure will provide information to students and families to support their transition to the new program closer to the transition date.
Aligned Leisure will make every effort to transition existing students into lessons on the same day and time.
Some changes may be required to accommodate the introduction of the new Swim and Survive Program curriculum (outlined above). Aligned Leisure will contact all students and families closer to the transition date to confirm your lesson dates and times and to highlight any changes.
All existing swimming lesson staff will be offered employment opportunities with Aligned Leisure, and their aim is to provide all swim teachers with the same class schedules as per current operations.
No. Aligned Leisure has mapped the new curriculum to the YMCA Victoria program, meaning there is no need for reassessments.
The new Swim and Survive program is designed to progress students through set levels as they develop, with regular assessments a crucial part of ensuring the needs of students are met and supporting them to advance to higher levels when ready. More details on the program will be released closer to the transition date.
The Gymnastics programs will continue.
